In these two weeks, we proceded to investigate the various sustainable and biodegradable materials that could be used in our final product. Each team member made a quick research on each material in order to find more information about costs, purchase, resistance and interaction with food.
After a further discussion, we found out that, among all of our options, coffee grounds and hemp would be the best ones.
However, only one of them could be used, so we started to look into these materials even further. Therefore, we found out that the usage of hemp required a very complex logistics which we wouldn't be able to manage, as it isn't frequently produced in Portugal, besides the fact that it is already being used for our target audience by other companies.
So, we decided to go for the coffee grounds due to their great abundance and its contribution to the circular economy. Besides, it can be easily reused.
